Lyndsay Michalik Gratch is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Syracuse University, where she teaches courses about Communication and Digital Culture and Performance Studies, including Remix Culture, Performance Studies, Digital Performance in Everyday Life, Emerging Domains in Communication Studies, and Communication and Gender. She earned her PhD in Communication Studies (Focus: Performance Studies and Digital Media) from Louisiana State University in 2014. Her research and creative interests include performance studies, remix culture, creative adaptation, internet memes, digital media studies, performative writing, the rhetoric of cinema, and video art. She has published in Text & Performance Quarterly, Theatre Annual, and Liminalities: A Journal of Performance Studies.  Her first book, Adaptation online: creating memes, sweding movies, and other digital performances (Lexington, 2017) discusses various types of creative and everyday life adaptation practices as they relate to digital media and online cultures. Her short fiction has been featured in Electric Literature’s “The Outlet,” The Brooklyn Review, and Joyland Magazine. Her multimedia performance work, directing, devising, and playwriting have been showcased in multiple venues throughout the United States and Canada.
